Dr.Beni Bevly, saya baru saja membaca tulisan-tulisan pemikiran Anda tentang lingkungan hidup, ekonomi, dsb.

Thank you for your insightful comment, C. Hudiono. It's most cases, including going green, always have two side effects that are positive ans negative. The question is will we let the old system, one of them, burning fossil oil continuously or try new way even though it's not perfect yet?

Other side of going green, again like in most other cases, it always involves money. At this point, as a conscientious individual, it depends how they find the solution and balance everything out.

Going green is the direction for the future, this very positive article for Indonesian viewers. One positive thing that I observe recently, major supermarkets in Indonesia are avoiding plastic bag, moving the same direction similar to SF, this is a positive starting point for Indonesia. However, we should be observed for Wal-Mart, for one thing they are doing green in US but not on their supplier’s side instead doing a lot of PR works in green. Wal-Mart stated, they asked P&G a and others to produce concentrate liquid detergent to save plastic container and shipping cost, yet selling cereal and many food items in the same size of box with less content, to put the price down, isn’t it counter intuitive and is not green? What many papers and media just re-iterate the good things not the bad side of it. After all, to Wal-Mart the environment issue is still a second class, good for initial gesture for PR campaign.

Solar energy is good, but the sad thing is the materials and its chemicals to produce it are so harmful that is not really green at this stage, plus the efficiency is still in mid 20%, not until it could reach about 60% and new less harmful materials used then it is cost effective and sound environmentally.
