Menyikapi Pemilihan Presiden RI Tahun 2009

Terlepas dari kemajuan teknologi mass media, ternyata masih banyak warga Indonesia di luar negeri termasuk di Amerika Serikat merasakan kekurangan akan informasi mengenai Pemilihan Umum (Pemilu), khususnya Pemilihan Wakil Presiden dan Presiden (Pilpres) tahun 2009 di Indonesia. Karena itu saya berterima kasih dan bersyukur bahwa enam organisasi terkemuka Indonesia di Los Angeles Area (Badan Kerjasama Gereja-Gereja Indonesia California Selatan (BKS-GICS), Indonesian Chinese American Association (ICAA), Indonesia Media, Spirit, Indonesian Journal dan Duarte Inn) mengambil inisiatif untuk mensosialisasikan Pemilu 2009 di kalangan komunitas Indonesia dengan mengadakan seminar yang bertema “Menyongsong Indonesiaku yang Pancasilais dan Demokratis”. Untuk itu saya sampaikan penghargaan setingi-tingginya kepada keenam organisasi ini.
Agar peserta dalam seminar ini bisa mempunyai pemahaman yang mendalam pengenai Pemilu dan Pilpres 2009, maka dalam paper ini saya akan diskusikan mengenai sejarah singkat Pemilu di Indonesia, sistem Pemilu 2009, figur para calon wakil presiden dan calon presiden, program kerja, kemungkinan pasangan yang keluar sebagai pemenang dan kriteria apa yang bisa dipakai untuk menyikapi Pilpres ini.
