Evan A. Laksmana is currently a researcher with the Department of Politics and International Relations at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Jakarta, Indonesia.
Before joining CSIS, from October 2006 to July 2009, he was a research analyst with the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (IDSS) at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. In 2007, he was awarded the Research Analyst Award by the school to pursue his Master’s degree part-time, while continuing his full-time research work with the school’s Indonesia Programme.
He is also affiliated with a California-based non-profit civil society group called Overseas Think-Tank for Indonesia (OTTI) as a contributing analyst. He has been actively involved in the Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR), serving as a delegate to the academic conference in 2006 in Singapore, and as a paper presenter in 2008 at Harvard University, USA.
As an undergraduate at Parahyangan Catholic University, he had served as Vice President (2003-2004) and President (2004-2005) of the Students’ Study Group for International Affairs (KSMPMI), during which he co-founded Indonesia’s first internationally-registered International Relations academic journal solely organized, written, and published by undergraduates.
He holds a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science (Cum Laude) from the Department of International Relations, Parahyangan Catholic University, Bandung, Indonesia.
