Mutiara Andalas adalah mahasiswa Pascasarjana di Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley, California dan penulis buku Kesucian Politik: Agama dan Politik di Tengah Krisis Kemanusiaan, Lahir dari Rahim dan Just for You. Ia adalah alumnus Sekolah Tinggi Filsafat Driyakara Jakarta dan alumnus Fakultas Teologi Universitas Sanata Dharma Jogjakarta.

Selama belajar filsafat, ia mendampingi paguyuban keluarga korban Mei – Semanggi 1998. Setelah menyelesaikan studi filsafat, ia menjadi pendidik di Xavier High School, Federated States of Micronesia selama dua tahun. Ia kemudian kembali belajar teologi di Universitas Sanata Dharma, dan menjadi campus minister di almamaternya selama satu tahun.

Sejak di Jogjakarta hingga sekarang, ia merintis teologi politik kemanusiaan kontemporer yang memadukan kecerdasan iman dan praksis liberatif. Ia membuka dialog kontemporer teologi dengan studi-studi kemanusiaan untuk humanisasi Indonesia. Teolog yang tidak memihak korban sejarah menyembah illah kematian. Teolog yang memeluk Allah kehidupan membela korban sejarah. Selain teologi politik kemanusiaan, ia juga berminat dengan tema feminisme, pendidikan, Islam, dan ekologi.

  1. Saya kira sudah banyak kematian yang terjadi di kalangan gereja katolik sehubungan dengan keberpihakan ini. Kita bicara teologi mungkin terlalu jauh. tetapi setiap hari kita menyaksikan yesus disalibkan oleh para imam karena kecerobohan pemahaman akan kemanusiaan. kemanusiaan yang benar adalah keberpihakan kita pada yang kecil dan miskin. terus terang saya agak terkejut ketika pulang flores dan menyaksikan imam-imam lupa akan kesucian. mereka justru menjadi lebih materialistis dari para awam. Bisa dijelaskan fenomena ini? tks for discuss. romanus

    saya turut prihatin dengan perilaku para imam yang ‘scandalous’ utk umat dan berlawanan dengan jesus’ way of proceeding. terima kasih atas refleksi terhadap kepemimpinan gereja yang jauh dari pelayanan ini.
    tanpa mengecilkan persoalan di dalam gereja, kita juga melihat penyaliban atas anak-anak Allah karena pelanggaran HAM. Gereja butuh banyak pribadi kristiani untuk menjadi saksi yang menemani perjuangan korban. Kita, saya dan Romanus, dipanggil Yesus sekarang ini utk menjadi sahabat-Nya dan sahabat para korban.
